Adopt A Leader In Prayer

At Nebraska Family Council our mission is to be an effective voice for biblical values in government,schools and the family. Our first core value is prayer.
We recognize the opportunity before us to pray for our Government Leaders. Nebraska Senators elected Senator Flood as Speaker and 17 Committee Chairman. The Nebraska Legislature officially convened with 22 new state senators on January 3, 2007.
We have heard from elected officials they desire our prayer support because they recognize the challenge before them. In response, we launched "Adopt a Leader in Prayer" in December 2006. Nebraska has 49 state senators and we are inviting individuals to pray on a regular basis for their state senator. As you hold up your leader in prayer we suggest you pray for their family, staff, safety and protection, wise mentors to assist them in office, wisdom in making decisions, courage to face adversity and their personal integrity.
Many of our prayer partners have responded. Senators have been adopted. Would you prayerfully consider partnering in prayer with us? We desire all 49 Senators covered on a regular basis in prayer. You and/or your church family can adopt a leader.
We know our Leaders by the responsibility they bear. We must never forget that these influential people are also moms and dads, husbands and wives, friends and neighbors. They face the same pressures we do in trying to keep our lives in balance. Their public role also means their decisions affect many other lives in addition to their own.
What would happen if all 49 senators had a person(s) praying for them on a regular basis? I Timothy 2:1-2 carries a promise that if we pray for those in authority we will live in peace and godliness.
If God is leading you to commit to pray for the next 90 day Legislative Session, we will send you a resource packet at no cost. Included in the packet is a 5 minute DVD with Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning sharing the impact that prayer has had on him and his staff, a "30 Ways to Pray for those in Authority" prayer card and a magnet with the name of your State Senator, U.S. Representative and Nebraska Supreme Court Justice appointed from your area.
To "Adopt a Leader in Prayer", go to the sign up on the left top corner of the website, scroll down to "Adopt a Leader", complete the information and submit your form electronically. The resource packet will then be mailed to you.
